Just imagine, the largest family reunion ever! A Union of English speaking nations with free trade deals, freedom of movement, foreign policy cooperation, and closer cultural ties with visa free travel encompassing 130 Million citizens. This is probably the most natural development ever and the fact that it has not happened yet, speaks volumes to political interference, corporate manipulation and EU protectionism. I personally have family in 3 of the five CANZUKI nations, and close friends in all five, as I am sure most English speakers do. Who knows, maybe USA will be interested too as that would then totally include the “Five Eyes” international intelligence network.
Well, a quarter of a million people have already signed up to this wonderfully logical initiative. OK, disclosure time, we added Ireland to their four nations as Ireland already has had a freedom of movement agreement with UK since 1922, long before the EU started throwing its weight around. Besides having been more or less part of, or owned by UK for 800 years before transferring its dependency to EU, Ireland clearly needs some English speaking big brothers. (What are they doing in a union (EU) where no one speaks English anyway?).
CANZUK International was founded in January 2015 as The Commonwealth Freedom of Movement Organisation, and is the world’s leading non-profit organisation advocating freedom of movement, free trade and foreign policy coordination between Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom (the “CANZUK” countries), so they may build upon existing social, economic, diplomatic and institutional ties to forge a cohesive alliance of nation-states with a truly global outlook.
Their work has been recognised by senior government officials and diplomats across the world, and they have engaged millions of citizens within these countries to support and campaign for our proposals. Their petition has already attracted over 267,000 signatures.
They believe in the citizens of Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom (the CANZUK countries) benefiting from a freedom of movement initiative, advancing the ever growing cultural, historical, economical and political connections that they already share through historical ties.
Because of the unique relationship and socio-economic bonds that Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom share, they suggest that each country can benefit from a free movement agreement with each other, similar to the policies of the European Union and the Trans-Tasman Travel Arrangement (T.T.T.A) between Australia and New Zealand.
They propose that the governments of the aforementioned countries finalise agreements (and inevitably, legislation) which make it possible for citizens to move freely with no restrictions regarding work permits or visa controls (providing health, character and security checks are undertaken and accomplished).
Through mutual travel agreements and mobility schemes, Canadian, Australian, New Zealander and British governments can offer valuable economic connections, strengthen political relationships and benefit from cultural and historical traditions, while strengthening trade, investment, military and diplomatic relationships for the future.
Freedom of movement is already a growing global ideology (as seen with the T.T.T.A and the European Union). Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom share the same head of state, the same common-law legal system, the same western culture, the same respect for democracy and even the same language…it is therefore unreasonable for each to not share the same economic, political and cultural benefits that a free movement policy would bring!
Recently the British High Commissioner to Australia, Menna Rawlings, has stated that both British and Australian governments will be looking to implement reciprocal migration agreements for skilled workers following the UK’s withdrawal from the European Union in March 2019.
“On a Free Trade Agreement, this is an area we want to really look at in terms of making sure that on both sides, it’s as easy as possible for our skilled migrants to be able to live and work in each others’ countries”, she said during an interview with ABC News in Australia.
In addition, The United Kingdom’s High Commissioner to Canada, Susan le Jeune d’Allegeershecque, has said informal talks between the British and Canadian governments are underway that could lead to a free trade deal in as little as a year.
The High Commissioner also stressed that the informal talks between the British and Canadian governments would result in a deal that would continue a strong and positive trading arrangement between the two countries. Issues such as air travel and reciprocal business procedures would be covered, while CETA (the current trading arrangement between Canada and the EU) would continue to apply for the UK as it negotiates its departure from the European Union.
CANZUK International is clearly making a significant impact within the national governments of Canada, Australia, New Zealand and the United Kingdom.
